Behind West elk are Mark and Alina, a couple from Toronto, Ontario.
Hailing from consulting and creative backgrounds, our strengths complement one another in all walks of life. After purchasing our home in 2014, a basement workshop was born and with that began our woodworking journey.
Whether hiking Mount Olympus or portaging in Algonquin, our interests frequently take us to new distances and new heights. The drive that has us chasing up mountains is the same passion we poured into creating West elk — a name that comes from our love for wilderness and our dog Cosima, a Norwegian Elkhound who hails from the Canadian West Coast.
Our products are meant to inspire and bring wonder to your home. Using locally sourced wood, we handcraft each piece individually with love and care, which is at the core of everything we do. Because we buy our wood from small local providers, we rarely get the same stock twice. This means our products are truly unique and no one piece is ever the same.
